Adam Duritz Talks About His Depression

Counting Crows lead singer Adam Duritz has more to worry about than mic checks and adoring groupies lately.

Duritz's been fighting severe depression and was recently diagnosed with a mental disorder that distorts reality for those afflicted.

"Being crazy is bad," Duritz says. "It's scary when the world isn't real to you. Everything seems imaginary. You don't feel pain. I stopped letting myself feel."

The Crows' new album Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings touches on his struggle. Despite the hard times, things are looking up and he has a new girlfriend. Duritz says "She's wonderful. I'm lucky to know her."
