Elvis' Jumpsuit Sells For $300K

Elvis Presley
Who would want to pay through the nose for a jumpsuit?! Can't imagine it's much a breathable fabric!

Auctioneer Gotta Have It! auctioned off Elvis Presley's famed peacock jumpsuit, featuring a plunging neckline and blue-and-gold peacock design hand-embroidered on the front and back and along the pant legs.

It sold for $300,000 early this morning, making it the highest bid for any of Elvis' memorabilia. Someone is going to have an awesome Halloween costume this year! Expensive, but awesome!

Let's see. When a guitar pick worth US$0.10 (ten cents of a dollar, made of plastic and made in 1970 sold for US$10,000), at an Elvis auction in Las Vegas, in 1999, then the person who bought it either wishes to use it, in front of his rich family and friends or, since it was a charity, just gave the 10 grand and walked away with the pick, just for the hell of it. But when a person buys a US$10,000 (in 1974 dollars), jumpsuit made of herringbone, made of the most expensive italian thread, a mixture of silk and cotton, and pays USD$300,000 for it is not because he's going to use it. Think about it. The person who bought one of the two Aloha Capes, also in the same Vegas auction, in 1999, put it for display outside his car dealership somewhere in Texas, and, in a month's time, recouped his investment after selling more cars than would have been the case had the cape not been there, for everyone to watch, from the highway across his dealership (LOL) And this man, the one who bought the Peacock suit, will either make simnilar use of it, or sell it to Hard Rock Cafe, or to an Arabian prince, where Elvis has many rotyal fans, or do anything along those lines except use it, himself (LOL)

Incidentally, the picture accompanying the article, showing the 1968 two, piece suit used in the 1968 special is probably the only one of the 167 jumpsuits found at the Graceland museum, and exhibit, which a person may want to purchase and make use of. But, given the price it could fetch, more than a million dollars, I can guess, only few people in the world would be tempted to make a bid for it, and plan to use it. In addition, the person, to look good with it, would have to be six feet, a half inches tall, and weigh exactly 170 pounds, Presley's weight then, as leather can not be taken out...
