Jay-Z Wants Respect For Hip Hop

Jay-Z
Jay-Z is defending himself after Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher said hip hop isn't suitable for the Glastonbury Festival, which Jay-Z is set to headline.

When Gallagher heard that, he said, "I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance". And Jay-Z is calling for respect amongst musicians of all different genres of music.

He spoke out directly to Gallagher, saying, "We don't play guitars, Noel, but hip-hop has put in its work like any other form of music. This headline show is just a natural progression. Rap music is still evolving. From Afrika Bambaataa DJ-ing in the Bronx and Run DMC going platinum, to Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince winning the first rap Grammy, I'm just next in the line. We have to respect each others' genre of music and move forward."

ay-Z also said the controversy surrounding this show has pumped him up even more for it. He headlines Glastonbury on June 28th.
