Before being a top ten finalist on American Idol, Kristy was the first person signed to Britney's production company. Kristy's manager at the time Marty Rendleman says Britney would always tell Kristy how talented and beautiful she was.
Maybe this is a new calling for Brit, mentoring other singers' careers instead of pursuing her own. She can pick up right where she left off with Kristy, since she's probably the next one to get voted off AI.
